Karkala, Nov 29: Two students staying in a hostel at Kinnigoli had gone missing on November 22. Among them, one of them has been traced in a train to Chennai while the other is still missing. Sources said that the boys had left the town as they had been caught stealing soft drink bottles from a shop in Kinnigoli.
The missing boy has been identified as Antony Pinto (15), from Niddodi. His friend Royston has been traced and brought back to Karkala.
As per the information obtained, the two were studying in class 10 at a school in Mulky-Kinnigoli and were residing in Kelambettu St John Bosco church hostel in Bola.
On November 22, the two boys left for school in church bus at around 8.20 am. But when the bus reached the school, the boys did not go to their class but instead proceeded to Mangalore railway station from where they caught a train to Chennai. Royston was found sleeping in the train, but Antony was missing.
Growing suspicious about Royston’s behavior, the railway police questioned him. He said that his friend Antony had gone missing.
As the information was passed on by officials, Royston’s family visited Swarnur junction railway station near Kallikote and brought him back.
It is suspected that Antony might have been forcefully taken away by someone or has gone missing on his own.
A case is registered at Karkala rural police station.
