Two students sent to judicial custody for vandalising vehicles


Gurgaon, Nov 23 (IANS): Two students were Saturday sent to judicial custody while three others were granted bail for vandalising vehicles after a bus mowed down a fellow student here, police said.

Following Friday's incident in which a Haryana Roadways bus ran over a student, Pappu, 18, a mob vandalised more than 15 government buses near the main bus stand, Rao Mahavir Chowk, City police station and the Bhim Nagar area.

Rajan and Samarth, both 18, were booked by the sector 5 police under sections 341, 353, 427 and 283 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP) Act.

They were produced before the court of judicial magistrate 1st class Manvika Bansal who sent them to 14 days' judicial custody, investigation officer Dev Charan said.

They were studying in class 11 and 12, respectively, at a government school here and joined the mob in vandalising buses while returning from a dancing school in sector 4.

Three others - Devender, Sandeep and Surender - were arrested by the Civil Lines police station for damaging vehicles near the main bus stand.

The accused were studying B.Com at the Guru Dronacharya Government College on the Railway Road and were booked under sections 147, 148 and 186 of the IPC and section 3 of the PDPP Act.

They were also produced before the court of JMIC Manvika Bansal. The court granted them bail on a surety of Rs.15,000 each.

Pappu was a resident of Surat Nagar and studying at Brilliance Institute on the Railway Road here.

Bus driver Sombir Singh, allegedly responsible for the accident, was also arrested Saturday and later granted bail by the court of ACJM Rajesh Sharma.
