Kolkata, Nov 22 (IANS): Subjected to multiple grilling by the investigating agencies for his alleged involvement in the Saradha scam, suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh Friday claimed that the media arm of the Saradha Group had been set up with the sole aim of promoting West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as the country's next prime minister.

Though Banerjee could not be reached for her comment, Trinamool general secretary Mukul Roy, who was also named by Ghosh, countered the allegations.

"The law will take its own course...no one is above the law. We have got no agenda," said Roy, dubbing the allegations as one made by a suspended member of the party.

Another Trinamool leader and state minister Madan Mitra termed the allegations a "conspiracy" and said people would laugh at such barbs against Banerjee. "I feel this is a conspiracy. Some people are playing with fire."

Ghosh, who earlier headed Saradha's media arm, was quizzed yet again Thursday night by the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate that is probing the scam.

While breaking down, he demanded the probe be directed towards tracking down the vast sums of money that the group made as a whole, and not merely the media arm.

"One of Saradha media group's main goals was to create additional media wings so that Bengal's voice would go across the country. Sudipto Sen (Saradha's promoter) had told the chief minister that she would be the next prime minister and he would set up his media house (Saradha's media wing) to facilitate that," Ghosh told reporters here.

Ghosh will again be interrogated by the police Saturday.

"I am ready to face the CBI. Before going to the police commissionerate tomorrow (Saturday) I will write to the prime minister that the case should be handed over to the CBI."

He accused Bidhannagar Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumarof acting on Mukul Roy's instructions.

"I have not moved for anticipatory bail...I will not. Let Mamata-di sent police and let them take me away. Rajib Kumar dances to the tune of Mukul Roy."

"The probe should aim at finding out where the money went...the investigation is not moving in that direction," he reiterated.

Addressing a media meet, Roy said: "The law will take its own course the party has got a disciplinary committee. I am the senior-most member and the comment is made by a suspended member whose suspension has been recommended by the disciplinary committee".

"So how I can comment on that? It is not not at all desirable and it is not for a disciplined soldier to make any comment."

Ghosh got the backing of dissident Trinamool MP Somen Mitra, who said the allegations needed to be probed by the CBI.

The Saradha scandal - the biggest such scandal to hit the state - came to light in April when the company closed shop across West Bengal after it was unable to pay back depositors, many of whom were from poorer sections of society and had parked their life's savings with the company lured by the promise of huge returns.

As the company went bust, many agents and investors committed suicide and protests took place across the state.

Saradha promoter Sudipta Sen was arrested, along with his close aides, from Sonmarg in Jammu and Kashmir on April 23.

Ghosh was suspended by the party after he lashed out against the leadership In August.
