Seoul, Nov 22 (IANS): South Koreans got a taste of India on home turf at a three-day event themed 'India Week' at Seoul National University (SNU) here.

The event, organised by the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) Seoul to mark the 40th anniversary of India-South Korea diplomatic relations, started Tuesday and concluded Thursday, according to a statement issued by the Indian embassy in Seoul.

During the course of the event, workshops on yoga, classical Kathak dance and contemporary Indian dances were held.

Indian artifacts, books and costumes were showcased and Hindi movies and documentaries screened.

Demonstrations of sari-wearing techniques and Indian cooking added colour to the event.

As part of the event, a photo exhibition showcased India's contribution in the Korean War of the early 1950s.

Indian Ambassador Vishnu Prakash delivered a speech to scholars and SNU faculty members on ‘Rise of Asia: India’s relations with Korea and East Asia' at the Asia Centre of the SNU which was established in 2009.

The Asia Centre has since commenced a new Asia Cultural Awareness Programme and has identified India as the first partner country.
