Bangalore, Nov 20: CCTV footage clearly showed a woman who was attacked by a man, with a machete at an ATM here on Tuesday, and lay in a pool of her own blood for three hours before getting help. 38 year-old Jyoti Uday who worked as manager in charge of the cheque truncation system at Mission Road branch of Corporation bank who was attacked  is now better after her petrifying ordeal with the armed burglar.

The Police on the other hand have disbanded into 9 teams to bring her attacker to justice. Two teams have been dispatched to Chennai as they suspect the assailant has fled there. Even though the mugger has a head start of a few hours the police are confident of arresting him soon. Karnataka government in the meantime have issued the closure of all ATM's where in banks are unable to provide security guards at all times.

The man followed Jyoti into the ATM and pulled down the shutter to avert other people from witnessing his activities. He demanded that Jyoti withdraw and handover a large sum of money to him. When she refused to give in to his demands he attacked her with a machete.

He then left her severely injured and in a pool of her own blood. Two school children passing by noticed the blood flowing out of the ATM and called for help. By then Jyoti who had suffered a skull fracture causing a small piece of bone to get lodged into her brain, had been in her own blood for three hours. She was taken to Victoria Hospital, then to Nimhans and from there to BGS Global Hospital, where she underwent a surgery.

Recovering from her rather extensive surgery the woman is known to have spoken to Dr Venkataraman who conducted the surgery, nearly a day after her terrifying ordeal. She is still critical and suffering paralysis on her right side.
