Dhar (Madhya Pradesh), Nov 20 (IANS): Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi Wednesday attacked the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh saying building roads and airports was not enough as the poor needed healthcare and education.
"We also create infrastructure but the opposition thinks building roads will make everything right. The roads do not benefit the poor," Gandhi said while addressing a rally here.
He said the farmers work hard in the fields while roads and airports are used by the rich.
"Roads will not provide food to a child or a woman. The farmer working in a field sees a plane flying and dreams that his children may travel by air one day," Gandhi said.
Talking about the rural job plan MGNREGA, he said questions were raised over its funding when the central government introduced it.
"When we talk about needs of Dalits and tribals, we are asked where will funds come from. But people remain silent when the sand mafia robs you," he said.
Later, he addressed a rally at Sidhi and targeted the state government there too.
Assembly polls in the state will be held Nov 25 and the results will be out Dec 8.
