Bangalore, Nov 20: State law and parliamentary affairs minister T B Jayachandra has demanded the resignation of BJP state president and MP Prahlad Joshi in connection to the Rs 1,200 crore scam in Hubli Canara Bank.
Addressing reporters on Tuesday November 19, he said, "We have been hearing involvement of Prahlad Joshi’s brother Gopal Joshi in the Rs 1,200 crore scam in Canara Bank, Hubli. It is also reported that the fax and telephone calls were also made from Joshi’s residence."
"The CBI should investigate this bank fraud case. Investigations are on to ascertain the nature of transactions and from which departments the money was transferred," he said.
"BJP which claims that it fights against corruption should soon ask Prahlad Joshi to resign from his post," he demanded.
Commenting on the proposed Anti-Superstitions Bill, he said the Bill will not be presented in the winter Assembly session which will begin in Belgaum from November 25.
"Before implementing the Bill, thorough discussion is necessary. We want to implement a law which does not hurt anyone's sentiments or dignity. Hence for the time being, the proposal has been kept aside," he clarified.
"Along with Akrama-Sakrama, 15 Bills will be presented in the Assembly. The governor has been informed about Akrama-Sakrama scheme,'' he said, in reply to a query.
"Shaadi Bhagya scheme which provides Rs 50,000 for minority girls for their wedding should be extended to girls of all communities. We had also planned to request KJP chief B S Yeddyurappa to stop his dharna where he has been demanding rice scheme even to APL card holders. But we received information that Yeddyurappa is not going to stop his dharna for any reason, hence we have cancelled our plans to meet him," he said.
