Mangalore, Nov 18: "Gujarat chief minister and BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is playing cheap politics to attack UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi by criticizing her about her health condition. Modi has insulted and interfered in the private life of Sonia Gandhi by doing so," said B Janardhana Poojary, addressing a press meet at the district Congress office here on Monday November 18.
Attacking Modi and slamming the speech he delivered in the Bangalore rally on Sunday November 17, Poojary demanded, “Modi should reveal his marital status - did he marry or not? If he is married, where is his wife? What is her name? Where is she now?"
“Why he is hiding his marital status? He should mention it in the voters' list. Modi has not studied Arthashastra (economics), he is building his territory on a pile of lies. Modi talks about IT revolution in the nation and asserts that it was a contribution by the NDA government during the tenure of A B Vajpayee. We know what they have done. But in Karnataka it was S M Krishna’s Congress government that brought IT revolution in the state."
Commenting on Gujarat's development, he said, “What did Modi do for the people of Gujarat? He has favoured only industrialists, not the poor and backward classes. Social Economic Review of Gujarat reveals his development work. There are problems of malnutrition and unemployment in Gujarat. People in Gujarat voted for him out of fear."
On Modi’s election campaign, Poojary said, “He has appointed a foreign company for 25,000 dollars to create publicity in the country. A few former US presidents too have joined hands with Modi. He is dreaming of winning the elections. Election is not a kabbadi or cricket match to win so easily. He doesn’t even know the foreign policy. In so many countries like Japan and US there are border disputes. If Modi becomes the PM, he will bombard Pakistan with nuclear bomb which will lead to world war. Modi cannot become PM, he is polarizing the society. People will not accept him."
He added, "BJP promised to build Ram Mandir but failed. It also failed to curtail several terrorist attacks. Vajpayee had knowledge of politics but Modi does not."
When a reporter asked Poojary why he was opposing the stand taken by the Siddaramaiah government on various issues, he replied, “Bringing Udupi temple into government fold was not part of the manifesto. There are 36,000 temples under the Muzrai department but there are not enough people to look after them. Hence I opposed this move of the government. In case of Shaadi Bhagya, I asked the government to extend the scheme to all sections of society because there are so many poor people in all sections."
Harikrishna Bantwal, Suresh Ballal, Vijay Kumar Shetty, Sadashiva Ullal, Nagendra, Arun Cohelo, Nazir Bajal, Mithun Rai and T K Sudheer were present.
