Panaji, Nov 18 (PTI): The government of Goa has decided to send a list of 14 Nigerians — who were amongst the 52 arrested for rioting in the state — to their Embassy, as they don’t have proper documents needed for initiating their deportation process.
A senior police official told PTI on Monday that out of the 52 Nigerians arrested in Goa on October 31, 2013, 38 have managed to get bail from the local court, after producing requisite documents.
The other 14 will remain jailed as they are without valid documents and all are involved in various crimes in Goa, he said.
A group of 200 Nigerians had blocked the national highway on October 31 protesting against killing of a countryman. State Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had said that the murder was due to drug rivalry.
