India is a nation of languages. At last count, there were more than 600 languages (including dialects). Best option is for politicians in the parliament to correspond in sign / "deaf-dumb" language. At least, there might talk more sense this way...rascals!

I feel Mulayam Singh is 100% correct. As Hindi is our National Language, we should use Hindi language in all the govt works.

Let it be any state, The govt should utilize two languages English And Hindi. However he cannot impose a Ban on English.

All the developed countries use their own language. For i.e Arabic, Chinese, Japanes, French etc etc....

So is strongly agree with the words of Mulayam Singh.

What goes on in parliament needs to be conducted in a language that is understood by all. With the number of languages that India has it is not fair that we pick Hindi. English is an International language which everyone in parliament is expected to know.

Hello ppl who supports hindi, first know that hindi is nt our national language and before independent, nobody in south and few north state ppl know hindi. After independent only govt started imposing and force other state ppl to learn hindi.

Tell me frankly, what qualities hindi has over other south indian languages? ALl the south languages are d as classical languages and NOT hindi :)

Kannada, Tamil, Telugu are far better than Hindi. If u ppl need only hindi, better let split india and u can force ur own country ppl to speak ur language..

Let all regional parties demand:
Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Konkani, Marathi, Oriya, Gujarati, Marwari, Hindi, Bhojpuri, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, Sindhi, Manipuri, Gadwali and other regional languages in parliament and let MULULAYAM be the co-ordinator to deal with them!
He shouldn't even use Motor car which uses English, instead take bullock cart to Parliament!

Why we have thees kind of politicians who bring up useless, trouble causing topics every now and then just to hide their inabilities, instead of applying their "TAN MAN DHAN" for improving their State and the Country.

All these type of politicians should be exiled to some Indian Islands in the Indian ocean, as far as possible from the Indian shores.

Then there is a chance for our country to improve.

We south Indians are more comfortable in English than Hindi. Hindi is completely different from our language. South Indians are well educated than Northies. 3 states of South India (strike hit kerala not counted) generate maximum employments in India.

I studied Hindi as a 3rd language from 5th to 10th std. But today I can't understand even 50% Hindi though I am in cosmopolitan Bangalore. I am not interested in learning that language. I respect Hindi, but I don't like it.

I am against teaching Hindi as 2nd/3rd language in Karnataka. In place of Hindi tulu/kodava languages should be taught.

Make Kannada compulsory in Parliament. Otherwise how our Chamarajanagar MP R Dhruvanarayana and Bangalore South MP DK Suresh speaks in Parliament? They knows only one language Kannada.

Nalin is better with skills of 2 languages Kannada and Tulu.

As Defence Minister in 1996 Mr. Mulayam Singh changed the names of several Military Ranks & Military Equipents from English to Hindhi. Inspite of this Akhilesh cannot speak fluent English. He was in Mysore Engineering college for 5 years and he stayed with a family speaking Urdu as paying Guest and he did not learn a single word of Kannada in five years in Mysore. That is why his father wants to Ban English and also all South Indian languages too.

Please note that Hindi is not a national language….. When any crime happens in Mumbai and the victim gives his statement in his language than it is translated and registered in Marathi and in Court same Marathi is translated in English and the full case is fought in English. Here there are 2 translators are involved and any mistake, the case is null and void. So India has to follow one main language

Hindi is the national language of India. In every country of the world the national language is also the country's official language. In India Hindi is one of the official languages besides English. Population wise Hindi is the fourth largest language spoken in the world, next only to English, Chinese and Spanish. Hindi is taught in the Universities from Russia to South Africa. Australian Govt. is also planning to introduce Hindi as one of the foreign languages in their public schools. These facts are a matter of pride for all Indians. So why should we ignore Hindi in our daily business?

English and Hindi are the official languages of India, but individual states have the autonomous right to enforce their regional languages as their official Language instead of Hindi.
