Doha: S P Balasubramaniam adds charm to KSQ Rajyotsava event

Doha Nov 15: Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ), a premier socio-cultural organization of Kannadigas living in Qatar and affiliated with Indian Embassy in Doha celebrated 'Karnataka Rajyotsava' at the Delhi Public School (DPS) auditorium, Al Wakrah in the presence of jam-packed Kannadiga audience on Friday November 15.
The much-awaited musical concert by S P Balasubramaniam and his team was the highlight of the evening. The renowned singer enchanted the crowd with old and new Kannada songs, transporting the eager listeners to another world.
Dr S P Balasubramaniam was honored by the KSQ president with a memento.
Earlier in the evening, the event sponsored by Doha Bank was inaugurated by lightning of the lamp by KSQ president along with other dignitaries and executive committee members, followed by a welcome song by KSQ ladies.
Host Karnataka Sangha along with other local associations in Qatar gave performances in Kannada and kept the celebration of Karnataka Rajyotsava alive. Tulu Koota performed a skit 'Shri Shakthi Roopaka', while MCC members danced to Entha Chenna houdu china ninagaagi nanu bande. Dance medley 'Nrutya vaividya' by Bunts Qatar and Kannadanthe mayavaadanu by Billawa Sangha enthralled the gathering. The icing on the cake was the performance by Karnataka Sangha members where they showcased the rich heritage of Karnataka by giving glimpses of various historical events through dances.
During the stage programme Sunil Tapliyal, chancellor of Indian embassy, B R Laxman Rao, a well known poet, Tarun Basu, ICC president, Deepak Shetty, KSQ President, Nagesh Rao, vice-president, Mahesh Gowda, general secretary were present on the dais. KSQ president Deepak Shetty welcomed the gathering and thanked all associations and sponsors for their contribution and for making the memorable evening possible.
Guests were welcomed and honoured with bouquets. KSQ also acknowledged the presence of Raj Kumar, president of Kannada Sangha Bahrain and Anil Basagi, president of Kannada Sangha from Muscat who flew in to join the celebration.
Sunil Tapliyal in his address said, "Kannada resides in the heart of all Kannadigas and one should appreciate when you see Rajyotsava celebrated with togetherness." He thanked the Kannadigas residing in Qatar for their contribution in keeping their language alive and tradition alive in this part of the world.
“Kannada Samman” Award was conferred on poet B R Laxman Rao on the occasion. Acknowledging the honour, he said, "I am thankful to Karnataka Sangha Qatar for giving me this award. All Kannadigas must come together for the betterment of Karnataka no matter where they reside.” President Deepak Shetty and Sunil Tapliyal honored him with memento and shawl.
Sri Gandha Samarana Sanchike was released by the guests in the presence of all KSQ executive and advisory committee members.
Dr Kumar was the host of the evening, annual report was presented by Mahesh Gowda and vote of thanks was delivered by the cultural secretary Madhu H K.
The programme was organized under the initiative of the Karnataka Sangha president Deepak Shetty and other office-bearers. This evening will remain as a memorable evening in the minds of all those present for the celebration.
Other prominent personalities who witnessed the programme included Ravi Shetty, philanthropist and president of Bunts Qatar, MCC, Tulu Koota, Billawa Sangha and KMCA president and past president of KSQ
More than a thousand people witnessed the show and all were served with the snacks by KSQ
