Abu Dhabi, Nov 13 (IANS/WAM): The Emirates Diving Association (EDA) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will organise the 18th Annual 'Clean-Up Arabia' campaign in the fourth week of this month.
The campaign, which will be held across the UAE, Oman and Saudi Arabia, will also promote Dubai's bid to host Expo 2020.
According to the Emirates Diving Association, the campaign will help clear beaches and key diving sites of harmful marine debris, as well as raise public awareness about the negative impact of marine debris on our health and that of our wildlife.
"With Clean-Up Arabia, we are asking residents across the region to take action and keep beaches and dive sites clear of marine debris for the sake of our future generations,” Essa Al Ghurair, vice-chairman of EDA, was quoted as saying Wednesday.
“Involving volunteers from the local community allows them to make a positive environmental impact in their marine environment and to preserve the region's diverse marine life," he added..
