Dubai, April 6: As announced earlier on this website, a meeting was arranged in Karama Hotel, Karama to discuss the developmental plans for the Catholic youth of Mangalore Diocese. Fr Elias D`Souza, director of ICYM Mangalore Diocese along with former ICYM Mangalore Diocese president Anil Lobo Permai was present and met several former youth leaders and members of ICYM.

Fr Elias briefed the history of Indian Christian Youth Movement in Mangalore and its achievements. It was noteworthy to mention that Fr Elias has introduced ICYM in more than 40 parishes and thereby total number of parishes which conduct youth (ICYM) activities has risen to 150.
Also it was with his initiative that two zones were made (Udupi and Mangalore) to give better opportunities to the youth in leadership and various other activities.
Anil Lobo put forward some plans for the Jubilee year, which were suggested in Mangalore by various youth organization. A 20-member jubilee committee was proposed in Mangalore, which includes youth directors, political leaders, journalists, social activists and ICYM presidents and secretaries Udupi and Mangalore diocese.
Former ICYM members who were present during the meeting proposed several developmental ideas to promote the talents and skills of youth.
The Dubai committee was formed which will be headed by Ullas Fernandes, another former ICYM central council leader, with other members, prominenly, Uttam Menezes, Thomas Saldanha, Rajesh Sequiera, Michael Castelino, Valerian Alva and others.
Dayan D`Souza who spoke on the occasion compared the youth activities of his times and current youth force. He gave some valuable guidance for the benefit of ICYM members.
Uttam Menezes, former ICYM secretary for the Mangalore Diocese, compered the programme and Ullas Fernandes Siddakatte proposed a vote of thanks.
About 40 former ICYM leaders of various capacities were present at the meeting.
