"This port has been a long-awaited dream of the fishing community here. The government has given the green signal for this project, thus making the dream come true. The above mentioned estimations have been discussed in a series of meetings held under the leadership of state fisheries Minister K Abhaychandra Jain and the officials of NMPT and the fisheries department, he added.
He further said that 9.57 acre of land is required for this project and the survey for the same has also been carried out. Various other minor projects with connected to the fisheries department have also been sanctioned and will be carried out at the earliest, he said.
"Also, Rs 15 lac will be sanctioned to every corporator for the basic development of his or her area. Concrete roads and footpaths will be constructed in select parts of Mangalore and Suratkal, at a total estimated cost of Rs 55 crore," Bava said.
"Fish and vegetable markets will be constructed in Kulur and Kavoor regions and the land for the same has already been notified.
