New Delhi/Hyderabad, Nov 11 (IANS): The Group of Ministers (GoM) on Telangana Monday discussed with secretaries of various central ministries and departments issues related to bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
The GoM, constituted by the centre to consider issues regarding the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and formation of a separate Telangana state, held consultations with secretaries of eight departments including finance, water resources, electricity, education and health.
The panel is learnt to have discussed with top officials sharing of revenues, river water and electricity between Telangana and the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh.
As Seemandhra (Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra) leaders are seeking a package, the GoM reportedly discussed this during the meeting.
GoM members Sushilkumar Shinde, Jairam Ramesh and Ghulam Nabi Azad had a series of meetings with the secretaries through Monday.
The departments had already submitted their reports to the GoM after going through various suggestions received from people.
The GoM received more than 18,000 suggestions from people, public representatives and political parties.
The ministerial group will Tuesday meet leaders of various political parties, who have already submitted their reports.
It will meet eight parties separately to hear their views on how to go about the bifurcation of Andhra and distribution of assets between the two states.
The political parties have been asked to depute one or two representatives to the meetings. Each party will get 20 minutes to present its views.
The GoM is trying to finish its work at the earliest and submit its report to the central cabinet. A draft bill for carving out separate Telangana state is likely to be sent to state assembly by month end.
