KUWAIT CITY, April 3: Panic has spread among residents of Kuwait because police have allegedly arrested a 36-year-old Kuwaiti woman believed to be a prostitute suffering from AIDS, reports Al-Rai Al-Aam daily.
The woman is a divorcee, has been dismissed from work at a ministry — the daily did not give the name of the ministry or say why she was dismissed — has a file at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, wanted by police in a betrayal of trust crime, has served time for issuing a dud cheque and was placed in solitary confinement at the prison.
During interrogation, the woman is said to have told police she had sex with a large number of people and that she does not remember their names. The daily quoting a reliable security source said, among the woman’s 100 or so clients are married men including police personnel. However police were able to identify 17 persons whose names were found on the woman’s cellphone. All these men and their wives will be referred to a hospital to ascertain they are not infected by AIDS. Several women allegedly called the Al-Rai Al-Aam newspaper to inquire if it has a list of names of men who had sex with the suspect. Some of the wives are worried their husbands may have had fun with the woman.
