Eight Indian illegal immigrants in UK

London, Nov 9: During a raid at a factory in the British city of Leicester, 8 Indian men between the ages of 20 and 54 were arrested upon suspicion of working illegally in the UK.

About 20 border security officials sealed off all the entrances to the factory before the raid that went on for three hours and was said to be a large scale operation involving the interrogation of nearly 40 workers. Four of the 8 arrested are being further questioned for allegedly carrying false documents.

Beginning at 6:30 am this morning, the hiring of illegal workers, if proven could cost their employers approximately 80,000 pounds as fine.  The police helped the border security force in carrying it out. Employing illegal workers steals away job opportunities from honest potential employees and of course being against the law, it is a grave offence.

If the firm is able to prove that they tried and carried out every effort to check the credibility of the workers' immigration status, then they may not face a fine.
