Kabul, Nov 8 (IANS): At least eight civilians were killed when a roadside bomb struck a vehicle in Zabul province of Afghanistan Friday, an official said.
"The tragic incident happened outside provincial capital Qalat in the morning, leaving eight innocent commuters dead," Mohammad Jan Rasoulyar, deputy to the provincial governor, told Xinhua.
The victims include two children, five women and a man, the official further said. The driver was wounded in the bombing, he added.
Rasoulyar blamed Taliban militants for the deadly bombing.
Civilians often bear the brunt of war in Afghanistan as more than 1,300 non-combatants have been killed and more than 2,500 wounded in fighting during the first six months of the year, according to a report released by the UN in July.
