Karkala, Nov 3: “God has given us good energy, efficiency in every opportunity. Positive thinking, open heartedness, and if we unite through our service then it will be ‘Deepavali’ for everyone,” said Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation.
He was speaking after inaugurating the ‘Deepavali Sambrama-2013’ organized by Saint Joseph Aided Higher Primary School here on Thursday October 31.
“Kannada medium students apart from cultural activities, academics, and sports, are also front runners in state and national level talent competitions. The medium of learning is not important but learning is important,” added Dr Alva.
On this occasion, Dr Alva felicitated special talent Sabitha Monis, who works as student welfare officer in Alva’s Institution, Pangala Panduranga Shaunbaug, who is blind from birth and yet secured his LLB degree with the 9th rank in the state and 4th rank in Sanskrit M A.
Currently he is working as a manager in Syndicate Bank and Panjimaru Kodu Ganesh Kullal who lost use of both legs and after completion of school education now he is pursuing his second B Com from Shirva MSRS.

Lawrence B D’ Souza, church priest and school convener said, “Festivals strengthen relationships. The awardees have taken physical inability as a challenge and reached the heights of achievements. This has really opened our inner eye.”
Janet D’ Souza, English Medium school teacher, welcomed. Monica, Kannada medium headmistress welcomed the guests by offering the bouquet. There was also a Tulu cultural programme. B Pundalika Marate organized the programme while Vincent Pinto rendered gratitude.
