Mangalore: Lightning strike injures two Air India Express workers at Airport

Mangalore, Nov 3: Two persons were injured in a lightning strike at Mangalore International Airport here on Saturday November 2, sources said.

The injured persons have been identified as Yogish and Raghavendra, who work for Air India Express as loaders.

The lightning struck them while they were loading the luggage into the Air India Express Goa flight, it is learnt. They were soon shifted to a hospital in the city with injuries on their legs and back, sources said.

Lightning accompanied by strong winds and light rain took the citizens by surprise on Saturday evening. The strong winds also caused damage at Kankanady market, where the corrugated roof of a cracker stall was blown off, injuring two girls and leading to heated exchange of words between the locals and stall keepers.

    since AII is goverment run airline it is sustain the Mangalore route. THe Private airliners will come and stay for max six months and stop their service. It is not monopoly. You might have seen KSRTC offering service to the remote areas while there are no any private buses offer service.

    I think people have forgotten what has happened in Mangalore 4 years back. Some times passengers need have patience for their own safety. If some thing goes wrong again all the blames come to airline staff.

    real damage at Bajpe airport still behind the screen.Walkway from terminal to aircraft seems damaged.
    Passenger of airindia (cattle carrier) MANAGLORE/DOHA stranded in side the flight more than TWO and a HALF hours. No one staff from ariline ready to explain or convenience. Later after one young age passenger raised his voice against the difficulty for which dirty airhostess turned down to help passenger. But knowing situation inside the air craft moving towards worst,she started to open her mouth with a cunning apology. Dear Mangalorean's whether you required this kind of airlines think and choose always a safest airline.

    Dear Doddanna, I don't think any passengers flying in AIE with pleasure but in MAJBOORI..

    Its common in monopoly system.Untill unless we get more direct airlines from IXE to the different destinations,we bound to suffer...

    It wasn't GOA bound air india express flight .. It was Doha flight .. Horrible experience .. 2 hours 20min we had to sit inside the flight ..
