Mangalore: Cracker shop at Kadri catches fire, reduced to ashes

Mangalore, Nov 2: A shop selling crackers was completely gutted in a fire in the wee hours of Saturday November 1. The shop was located near Kadri Rotary office.
The shop, named Madhusudan, is owned by Rajesh.
It is said that Rajesh had just set up the shop the same day to sell crackers for Diwali.
It is learnt that the fire sparked off after an unidentified person threw some object into the shop. It is suspected that it was a deliberate act.
A worker had slept in the shop, but he escaped the fire unhurt.
The crackers in the shop burst one after the other, gutting the entire shop. The people in the vicinity had a sleepless night due to the continuous sound made by the crackers, locals said.
A person in an adjacent cracker shop ran to safety as soon as he heard the noise, it is learnt. No injuries were reported, however, an Activa scooter, furniture and generator were gutted.
The Pandeshwar and Kadri fire service rushed to the spot and doused the fire. The chief fire officer on duty was K Nagesh, assisted by S Gowda, Vasanth and other fire officers and personnel.
