Three dead, over 15 injured as bus rolls off road at Siddapur

Siddapur, Nov 2: Three persons were killed and over 15 injured when a KSRTC bus rolled off the road and plunged about 33 feet into a farmland after the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The Rajahamsa bus was plying from Bangalore to Kumta. The incident occurred on Friday November 1 as the bus entered Uttar Kannada district at Siddapur Jogimatt.
The deceased have been identified as Kiran Timmegowda (33), a resident of Kumta, Mastamma Bhairegous (60), resident of Honnavar, and Nilesh Gopal (26), a resident of Mastikatte, Honnavar.
It is learnt that this was a special bus arranged by KSRTC to meet the Deepavali rush. The driver was also new on that route and he was not familiar with handling the curving road in the area, as a result of which he lost control.
A total of 44 passengers were in the bus.
The injured have been taken to Kargell and Sagar Government Hospital.
A case has been registered at Siddapur police station and the police have filed a case against the driver.
