Three dead, over 15 injured as bus rolls off road at Siddapur

Siddapur, Nov 2: Three persons were killed and over 15 injured when a KSRTC bus rolled off the road and plunged about 33 feet into a farmland after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The Rajahamsa bus was plying from Bangalore to Kumta. The incident occurred on Friday November 1 as the bus entered Uttar Kannada district at Siddapur Jogimatt.

The deceased have been identified as Kiran Timmegowda (33), a resident of Kumta, Mastamma Bhairegous (60), resident of Honnavar, and Nilesh Gopal (26), a resident of Mastikatte, Honnavar.

It is learnt that this was a special bus arranged by KSRTC to meet the Deepavali rush. The driver was also new on that route and he was not familiar with handling the curving road in the area, as a result of which he lost control.

A total of 44 passengers were in the bus.

The injured have been taken to Kargell and Sagar Government Hospital.

A case has been registered at Siddapur police station and the police have filed a case against the driver.

    Bus accident in Karnataka are really on the increase and people are scared to travel in buses espessially long routes comprising night travel.Detailed invetigation and findings need to be undertaken by the department to take corrective steps.All the best.Thanq.

    That's what we Indians are:

    Free to comment on anything without using our brains. But if it costs us by paisa, then we ready to scarify our Justice/Rules whatsoever.

    AND SAME MENTALITY MADE EVEN VOLVO TRAGEDY..
    But we are busy with blaming only Private owners

    If the bus driver or conductor was
    arrested then immediately there is
    state wide agitation by this KSRTC
    staff.Afterwards there is no bus &
    ultimately people are sufferers.

    Nice Question...
    1. Nope they are not arrested as they are into government sectors....I have not heard any government bus driver or conductors arrested yet...
    2. There is no such facility inside karnatka for 2 nd drivers... I too dont no why....
    4. ys they will be having all the details of passengers as before leaving they have to send details of bus to the customers....In this case they have full records

    Sagar to siddapur roads are very dangerous... Even local ppl find difficult to drive..

    I agree with you that road is not a straight, but I assume "Driver was Driving the bus" And KSRTC have their own training steps. And they are well trained for all sort of road. The problem is Bus, which is mentioned in question # 3. For these rush days, all scrap buses will be on road.

    And for details on passanger is available only for reserved tickets . Not for the people who caught the bus during journey. They will have only counts.

    Well, my concern here is why 2 separate rules for Govt and Private.

    Driving is a profession and one who drives need skills and familiarities to his vehicle. We see here the driver lost his skills and control of this vehiclen while driving, thus KSRTC putting peoples life under danger!!!.

    Yes, During deepavali time there is heavy rush, but KSRTC introduce old,spare buses during this time. I remember once during the deepavali time when i was travelling from mlore to blore in KSRTC. It was heavy rush and KSRTC introduced the special bus. Before boarding, I checked the condition and found that bus was off-road from long time and was not in proper condition. As expected, bus broke down in between at night, We were given spare bus, but even new spare bus tyre got punctured. Bad luck finally reaced blore in the evening.

    Well, Now I have questions...

    1. Is the Driver and Depo Manager are arrested?
    2. Why the bus didn't arranged for 2nd Driver?
    3. What safty points has considered?
    4. Is this KSRTC had names of all passangers list?

    The few people commented on Volvo bus accident in AP and specially on Private bus operators, can ans my question? And for your information this is the 4th KSRTC accident I am reading, which has death counts
