Mangalore: Dr Ganesh Pai gets Lifetime Achievement Award

Mangalore, Nov 1: Dr Ganesh S Pai, senior professor and dermatologist from Mangalore has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award from the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists Karnataka. 

The Award was presented by medical education minister Dr Sharan Patil at the annual meeting of the Association held at Shimoga recently.

The citation acknowledged his exemplary contribution to post graduate teaching for more than 30 years and called him ‘teacher of teachers’ as many of his students are now professors in various institutions. 

His students recalled his analytical clinical teaching and the need of compassion in treating underprivileged patients. 

He pioneered the field of dermatology lasers in India. He was the national president of dermatology association in the year 2000.  His contribution to textbook and journals are numerous. 

A gifted speaker, orator and novelist, Dr Ganesh Pai is also the founder of a NGO Animal Care Trust in Mangalore with a functional and proactive animal hospital with healthcare and sterilization programmes for stray animals.

He was given a standing ovation on receiving the award.

    A Doctor is always a beautiful thing to me for their medical service.
    Dr. Ganesh Pai is like ‘no holds barred’ beautiful to me.
    He has inner beauty within him, beautiful from outside too (exceptionally handsome even at this age), holding beautiful milestones 30 in teaching and 40 years of medical practicing, lecturing/seminars abroad, many publications to his credit too. Finally his ‘LASER’ fragrance to our Mangalorean society in particular and India at large. I am quite proud of knowing Dr. Ganesh Pai since 40 years. Once again I take this opportunity to wish “Sorv Borem Magovem thumka Dotor Pai maam”.
