Bangalore, Nov 1: Kanara Entrepreneurs - KE - Bangalore, organized a talk on “ Happy Childhood” for members and their spouses.
The programme was held at The Grand Magrath Hotel. Dr Jagruti Saranath, a well known Child Psychologist and popular Cousellor was the resource person.
She gave a lot of practical tips on bringing up children well. She made the talk interesting with several examples from her own experience and clinical practice.
Dr Jagruti Saranath compared entrepreneurship with parenting as both require a lot of patience and resilience, continuous learning and sacrifice.
She said positivity, self esteem, balance, health and time management are the key ingredients to keep a child happy. She emphasised on building Children’s self esteem. Correcting children whenever required without criticizing them, complementing them whenever they deserve it and extending unconditional love would play an important role in building positive self esteem in a child she said. She reminded members of their own childhood and stressed the importance of spending quality time with Children.
Later, the final round of the Speech contest was held for the participants of the KE Speakers Forum. The KE Speakers Forum was an initiative of KE to hone the public speaking skills of Members. It was a programme that had drawn an enthusiastic response from Members and many have benefitted from this initiative in terms of becoming better speakers.
Steven Pinto and Nigel Fernandes the finalists, gave powerful speeches. Steven spoke on“ Procrastination” while Nigel spoke on “Finding your wings”. Both spoke extremely well bringing to fore the excellent training imparted by the professional speakers from within the KE Members.
Steven said procrastination is a disease and that we need to overcome it quickly to succeed. He suggested ways and means to win over procrastination - Determination, Dedication and Discipline.
Nigel said practicing three principles on the lines of those used by the Wright brothers would surely help us Find our Wings and fulfill our dreams. He also gave the example of the extraordinary achievement of Australian Nick Vujicic who overcame
insurmountable challenges in life. Steven and Nigel made their presentations interesting by quoting examples from their own lives.
Steven was judged the Winner and Nigel the Runner Up.
The meeting started with the welcome address by president Mark D’Souza. Leo Sequeira proposed the vote of thanks. Charles Gomes conducted networking games for which there was enthusiastic participation by all the participants. The programme was ably compered by Allan Aranha.
