Karkala, Nov 1: The new regulations formed under the guidance of ASP Annamalai to regulate traffic in Karkala were brought into effect from Thursday, October 31.
More than twenty sign boards have been fixed to guide drivers from Anantashayana to Salmar Galaxy. Parking is allowed on the left side of Anantashayana temple till Salmar only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Similarly, parking is allowed on the right of the temple till Salmar on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The information is displayed on the sign boards.
Some people had orally agreed to donate seven feet of land on their own accord for widening of the road but had backed out at the last minute. The municipal administration has prohibited parking in such areas citing the narrow road as the reason. The municipality has also taken to task the land owners who failed to keep their promise and hindered the administration's plans, it is learnt.
The citizens have appreciated the joint operation of the municipal council and the traffic police to solve the problems of bus stand and congested traffic.
Municipal official Gopalakrishna Shetty and police inspector Pramod were part of the operation.
