New Delhi, Oct 30 (IANS): A total of 1,500 people have applied for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tickets in Delhi to contest the Dec 4 state assembly elections, said a party leader.
"The short-listing of the competent candidates is under process. The process of selection is very long but our state election committee has held several meetings in this context," said BJP's chief ministerial candidate and party senior leader Harsh Vardhan.
The selection would be based on performance of the candidate but the final selection would only be done by the central election committee, Vardhan said.
Delhi has 70 assembly constituencies.
Senior party leader Sushma Swaraj Tuesday said the party may select its candidates for Delhi assembly elections by Oct 31.
