Three killed, 15 injured in Pakistan blast

Islamabad, Oct 30 (IANS): At least three people were killed and 15 others injured when a blast hit Quetta, the capital city of Balochistan province in southwest Pakistan, Wednesday evening, said rescue workers.

Rescue workers told a Xinhua correspondent on the spot that the blast could have been caused by a bomb planted inside a car, but the nature is yet to be determined by the bomb disposal squad.

At least eight vehicles were destroyed in the blast, which took place at about 5.10 p.m. near a government office on the Double Road in the city.

The blast also caused the gas cylinder of a vehicle parked nearby to explode, said eyewitnesses.

All the injured people have been shifted to a civil hospital in the city.

Hospital sources said several injured people were in critical condition and the toll could rise further.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemned the attack in a statement issued by the PM office.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
