Udupi, Oct 29: A complaint has been filed against AICC vice-president and MP Rahul Gandhi under section 153 A at Padubidri police station for making statements insulting Muslims of the country in a public meeting
The complaint was filed by Udupi district JD(S) working president Gulam Mohammed.
Rahul Gandhi had said that some Muslim youths from riot-hit Muzaffarnagar were contacted by the ISI of Pakistan and that the information was given to him by an intelligence official.
"Rahul’s claims are very serious. After this statement, people are suspicious about the Muslims of the country and it will give way for communal tension. The governor of Uttar Pradesh has said that he did not receive any such information from the intelligence," he said.
Investigation against intelligence official
Speaking to reporters after filing the complaint, Gulam said investigation should be done against the intelligence official who leaked the information to Rahul Gandhi before first bringing it to the knowledge of the Prime Minister.
"If Padubidri police do not file FIR within two days then I will approach the district court," said Gulam Mohammed.
As per section 153 A of Indian Penal Code, any person promoting enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion by making statements either written or spoken is punishable for a minimum of 6 months and maximum 5 years, along with fine.
