Mangalore, Oct 25: The Southern India Regional Council Institute of Charted Accountants of India organized a sub – regional conference, Sankalp, an oath trust of India. The conference was hosted by Mangalore and Udupi branch of SIRC of ICAI (The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) on Thursday October 24 at TV Raman Pai hall.
Sankalp is an oath taking program for maintaining the integrity of the profession. The sub – regional conference was conducted to understand the concepts of direct tax, sales tax, income tax and various direct laws and corporate laws.
After the inaugurating the conference chief guest, CA K Raghu vice president of ICAI said, “The field of charted accountant has become very popular, there is plenty growth opportunities in retail, infra, IT and financial sectors. There are several opportunities in countries such as Gulf, Australia and Singapore.”
“There is a need to transform the traditional practice. Thus every CA student must consider a specialization and apply for certified courses to excel. Networking among CA firms and investing in technology also is equally important”, he added.
CA Prashantha Hola, secretary of Udupi branch SIRC of ICAI introduced the guest of honor CA D Prasanna Kumar, chairman of SIRC of ICAI.
The conference consisted of topics such as, Taxation survey conducted by CA Kapil Goel, New Companies Act 2013 by CA K Vishvanatha, Income Tax Act by CA Phalgun Kumar and sales tax issues conducted by CA Raghu Ram and CA Sanjay Darival followed by a panel discussion for two hours.
CA Jagannath Kamath chairman of Mangalore branch SIRC of ICAI delivered the welcome speech. CA Shenoy and CA Sahana Rao were the presenters for the program.
CA K Raghu, vice president of ICAI along with the other employees of ICAI, addressed the media and discussed the initiatives made by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, towards the nation, the members and the students.
