Bangalore, Oct 25: Popular Kannada orator of Sirsi, Dr Fouzia Sultana breathed her last on October 21 at 11 pm at her home town Sirsi after a long illness.
She was an active member of national women’s unit of Jamaat-e-Islami and a member of the state unit. She was a highly talented individual who could explain the teachings in the holy Quran in Kannada. She used to participate in the discussion programmes over TV and Radio and was giving speeches in news conferences. She had tried to clear misconceptions about Islam and Muslims.
The deceased was awarded a degree in Unani medicine in the year 1994. She has worked as a medical officer in the government hospital. Though she was suffering from cancer for a long time, she had not let that affect her duties and movements. She had developed a good rapport with the doctors, nurses and hospital staff during her treatment in the hospital. She used to be at ease even during her difficulties.
42-year-old late Dr Fouzia Sultana has left behind Dr Zainul Abidin, her husband, a member of Jamaat-e-Islami and Faiz, her son, a student of second year PUC. Office bearers of Jamaat-e-Islami, national president Moulana Jamaluddin Umari, vice president Moulana Sayed Jaffer and former national president Sirajul Hassan have expressed their condolences on the sad demise of Dr Fouzia Sultana. State president Abdulla Javed, secretaries, members of the advisory committee, Atharulla Shareesh and H R S’s Farooq Nashtar are expected at the last religious rites of Dr Sultana.
