Asaram's son may take shelter in Mumbai

Mumbai, Oct 24 (Mid-Day): Is the son of controversial self-styled godman Asaram Bapu and rape-accused Narayan Sai hiding in Mumbai? If police sources are to be believed, then Narayan Sai will be coming to a guesthouse in Borivli. However, senior officers of Mumbai police dismissed the theory.

Police teams from Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana and several other states have raided 17 different places all over the country in search of Sai. Officers of Mumbai Police have identified a few locations in Mumbai, where there are high chances of him showing up. One of the places is Sai Nagar in Borivli (west).

A police source said, “We suspect that Sai has changed his look and may come to a guest house in the locality. There are a huge number of followers of the godman in the area, and they can easily hide Sai in their houses too. Therefore, several cops are patrolling the area under cover. They have been stationed at the spot, as normal people doing odd jobs. The higher authorities have even prepared a confidential report on the same.”

Another source said, “A team of five police officials from each police station is part of the operation. Sai has not arrived yet, but there are high chances he may come in the next couple of days.”

He added, “The operation is so confidential that other officers from the same police station do not know about the involvement of their colleagues in the activity. This is being done because if information leaks out, Sai will escape to some other place. Therefore, even people in the know of the operation are refusing to comment.”

Other than Borivli, the source named a few other pockets of the city where Sai could take cover. The source felt that the probability of him visiting the city was high, as the police had already raided most other places.

Disagreeing with the source, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mahesh Patil said, “We have no such intelligence on Sai. We haven’t made any teams. We have not even been approached by the police department of any other state.”
