Mumbai, Oct 23: St Francis Xavier Community, Panvel, presented the popular comedy drama 'Mhataro Chorbela', written by Francis Fernandes, Cascia on Sunday, October 20, at 4 pm.
The drama was held at Bunts Bhavan in Navi Mumbai in support of their parish building. The comedy drama that is full of laughter was watched by a packed audience and appreciated by them.
Fr Felix Rebello, parish priest of Panwel church was present. Corporator and hotel owner Santhosh Shetty was the chief guest. Vice-president of minority commission in Maharashtra, Janet Lawrence D’ Souza and editor of Divo Konkani Weekly Lawrence Coelho were the guests of honour.
Susan Coelho, convenor of the St Francis Xavier Community, Louis Colaco, president Lancy Pinto, treasurer David Mendes and parish pastoral council vice-president George Varghese were present on the dais.
Fr Felix Rebello felicitated Janet D’ Souza with a shawl and a bouquet. Janet D’ Souza in her address promised her full cooperation to the Community.
Chief guest Santhosh Shetty spoke in Tulu saying that he does not know Konkani and promised his support to Panvel church and the Konkani association. He said that he liked the drama and the way the character of the old man had been portrayed. He appreciated the acting of all the artistes.
Fr Felix Rebello thanked all those who helped to make the programme a success. He acknowledged the work done by the parishioners.
Divo Weekly editor Lawrence Coelho praised the venture and hoped that more such activities may be conducted by the parishioners in the future. On behalf of the Weekly, he conveyed his best wishes to Francis Fernandes, Cascia troupe and hope that their hundredth show of the drama may soon be shown.
