Taliban commander killed in Afghanistan


Kabul, Oct 22 (IANS): Afghan security forces killed a Taliban commander and arrested four people in the country's Wardak province, near Kabul, Sunday night, authorities said.

"Security forces backed by aircrafts raided a Taliban hideout in Sayed Abad district Sunday night, killing Taliban commander named Mullah Habibullah on the spot; while four others were captured in Nurkh district on the same night," reported Xinhua citing the provincial government in a press release.

The province is located 35 km west of the capital city of Kabul.

Taliban militants did not comment immediately.
