- A separate discussion during budget session suggested
Panaji, Mar 21: The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) attempt to discuss issues related to murder of a catholic priest, desecration of Holy Crosses and confusion in exact date of arrest of a Tehreeq-Ul-Mujahiddin terrorist fell flat when speaker disallowed the adjournment motion moved in this regard.
On the first day of legislative assembly, leader of opposition Manohar Parrikar, moved an adjournment motion to discuss these issues. But speaker Fransisco Sardinha, disallowed the motion, stating that these issues were un-related. "They can be discussed during the discussion on budget or demands for the home ministry," Speaker stated.
Goa has witnessed a series of desecration of holy Crosses along the roadside, murder of priest, arrest of terrorist and fake identity cards of government servants. The BJP sought to discuss these issues on the floor of the house terming that these incidents have resulted in insecurity in the minds of people.
The speaker, while denying the adjournment motion, stated that the adjournment motion can be converted into urgent discussion motion and taken up in the house on a later date.
