Mumbai, Mar 19: A medical shop owner was questioned by the police on Saturday in connection with the alleged gangrape of a minor girl on March 4 by four teens.

Police on Saturday afternoon questioned the owner to find out if the girl had bought contraceptives and other medicines on the prescription of a doctor after the alleged incident. Cops are also looking into the possibility of the girl being a consenting party to the act.

The 16-year-old girl, on Friday morning, lodged a complaint with the Mira Road police, stating that the four had gang raped her. The girl, in her statement to the police, said on the evening of March 4, Amit Krishandas (19) , an acquaintance, “invited” her to his home at Matushree Building in the Green Park area of Mira Road for his sister’s birthday party.

At his home, Amit  gave her juice to drink, after consuming which she felt dizzy, the girl alleged. She was then raped by Amit, Shamim Abbas Jafri(16), Salman Razak Khan (15), and Faiz Mehboob Sheikh (16), she said in her complaint.

A police officer involved in the investigation did not deny that the medical shop owner was questioned.
