Bharti Airtel acquires Wireless Business Services


New Delhi, Oct 18 (IANS): Telecom service provider Airtel has acquired 100 percent equity shares of Wireless Business Services Private Limited (WBSPL), making it a wholly-owned subsidiary.

WBSPL, founded by US-based Qualcomm, holds BWA (broadband wireless access) spectrum in the Indian telecom circles of Mumbai, Delhi, Haryana and Kerala.

The company had picked up 49 percent stake in WBSPL in May 2012 for $165 million. Later in July this year, it increased its stake to 51 percent.

Bharti Airtel has operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa.
