Avoid politics in relief efforts, Congress tells Trinamool

Kolkata, Oct 17 (IANS): The Congress' West Bengal unit Thursday accused the Trinamool Congress state government of indulging in politics over the availability of essential commodities in flood-hit districts.

It asked the administration to take steps to control the situation, without being partisan.

"Staples like rice, baby food, drugs are not reaching the flood-hit areas and those that are reaching are being subjected to party politics. That's the worse part," said state Congress chief Pradip Bhattacharya.

"We want the state government to not indulge in such party politics, do not bring in false complaints. Take measures so that the essentials reach the people affected-due to rain and the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) releases water in a proper manner."
