Toy industry to clock 20-25 percent growth

New Delhi, Oct 17 (IANS): The Indian toy industry is poised to log a 20-25 percent growth year-on-year with the staging of trade fairs and exhibitions, the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) estimates.

“Now we are growing at 10-15 percent year-on-year, but these fairs and exhibitions will give a boost to that growth and help us garner 20-25 percent growth in the future,” Sonia Prashar, IGCC's director (Marketing and Trade Fairs), said here Thursday.

The industry is now looking forward to the Kids India international trade fair Oct 24-26 in Mumbai, where over 100 Indian and international manufacturers will exhibit toys, baby articles, licenced products, sport articles and leisure and hobby articles.

The fair is being organized by Spielwarenmesse in cooperation with the IGCC and with the support of the Sports Goods Export Promotion Council and The All India Toy Manufacturers’ Association.

“In the three-day fair we expect, 3,000 B2B (business-to-business) focused customers to visit the fair,” she said.

Among the participants, 80 percent would be Indian manufacturers and 20 percent foreign.
