Baghdad, Oct 15 (IANS): At least eight people were killed and 12 others wounded in a roadside bomb explosion near a mosque in northern Iraq Tuesday, police said.
The bomb went off near the Al Quds mosque in southern Kirkuk, some 250 km north of Baghdad, after the morning prayers for Eid al-Adha, a police source told Xinhua demanding anonymity.
The blast also damaged cars and houses nearby, the police source added.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Al Qaeda Front in Iraq, in most cases, was responsible for such massive attacks.
This has raised fears that the terrorist group and other militia could return to widespread violence, particularly as Iraq is trying to fend off the spill-over of the escalating violence in neighboring Syria.
