Mumbai, Oct 14: Senior Citizen's Day was celebrated in the Community Hall at St Joseph Church, Mira Road, here, on Sunday October 13.
The program began with the Eucharistic Celebration. Fr Ivan D'Souza celebrated the solemn mass at 9.30 am. Fr Dominic Vas preached an inspiring homily.
Soon after the mass renowned speaker Goshal gave a talk on health tips. It was really an enriching and meaningful insight to the senior citizens. The cultural program began with a prayer song. Later SCC members entertained the crowd with dance and songs. Senior citizens also shook their hips to peppy filmy numbers. This was followed by spot prizes conducted by the SCC animators.
On this wonderful day one could witness the enthusiasm and energy of the senior citizens as they celebrated the day that belonged to them. Speaking on the occasion, parish priest Fr Dominic Vas said, “We are celebrating this day out of joy, and you are the pearls of our parish.” Later he extended a gratitude to all those who contributed in various ways towards making this event a grand success. This programme was coordinated by SCC coordinator Clifford Faria, sponsored by Raphael Rodrigues and family.
Delisa compered the programme and Fr Ivan D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
The program culminated with a sumptuous home cooked food prepared by the SCC members of the parish. It was appreciated and relished by all.
