Kolkata, Oct 10 (IANS): Suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh was quizzed for over four hours Thursday by police in connection with the multi-crore Sardha Group chit fund scam.

The journalist turned-MP has now been quizzed seven times by officers of the Bidhannagar police commissionerate probing the scandal since he lashed out against his party Sep 20.

On reaching the commissionerate at Salt Lake, Ghosh said the investigators called him for questioning saying they have stumbled upon some evidence in connection with the case and wanted to talk to him.

"I have always said I will help the investigators to the best of my abilities, though I was an employee of a small company of that group," he said before entering the officer for the interrogation.

After the interrogation, Ghosh termed "a pre-planned conspiracy" the letter purported to have been penned by Saradha Group head and suspected scam mastermind Sudipta Sen to the Central Bureau of Investigation where his name figurd.

The 18-page letter that named Ghosh, another Trinamool MP Srinjoy Bose, and leaders from some other political parties was dated April l6.

Ghosh also alleged that Sen going into hiding afterthe deposit mobilising firmsof the Sardha Group went bust in of April was also"pre-planned".

But he refused to answer a query as to who was behind the conspiracy.

Somnath Dutta, a senior executive of Saradha media and close aide of Ghosh, was arrested Sept 29 and sent to police custody for seven days in relation to the muddle.

Dutta was arrested hours after Ghosh was placed under suspension by the Trinamool Congress.

Ghosh had earlier alleged that he was being made a scapegoat by those involved in the scandal, and demanded the CBI probe the case.

Over the past few days, he has continued to attack the Trinamool, demanding the setting up of a intra-party probe commission and alleging that a leader of the party took Rs.4 crore from Saradha boss.

The Saradha scandal came to light in April when the company closed shop across Bengal, unable to pay back depositors, many of whom were from poorer sections of society and had parked their life's savings with the company, lured by the promise of huge returns.

As the company went bust, many agents and investors committed suicide, and protests took place across the state.

Sen was arrested, along with his close aides, from Jammu and Kashmir April 23.
