New Delhi, Oct 10 (IANS): Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said here Thursday that he is keen to see Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi as the prime minister and welcomed Gandhi's remark that the youth will form the next government.
Shinde said at a press conference here that he welcomed Gandhi's statement "where he (Rahul Gandhi) very rightly" said that leadership (for the next government) will come from the youth.
"(It is) my desire that he becomes prime minister of this great country," Shinde said.
Rahul Gandhi said at a rally in Rampur Wednesday that a government of the youth, the poor and the common man would be formed after the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
"In 2014, it will be government of youth. It will change the country," he said.
Gandhi's remarks were seen as an indication that he will lead the government if the Congress wins the next Lok Sabha polls and the party's young leaders would then get more prominence.
