Kundapur: Revenue officials raid encroached govt lands

Kundapur, Oct 10: Some persons in Kundapur have illegally encroached large area of government forest and other fertile land besides illegally cutting and taking possession of trees valued at several lacs of rupees. Revenue officials conducted raids after inspection of the land on Tuesday, October 8.

While survey number 106 has new patta land measuring five acres and nine cents, the land adjacent to it with survey number 141-p1 has 1496 acres of government land in it.  Land measuring between 5 to 6 acres is encroached from the adjacent land by the people.

Kollur resident, Chandrashekar Puranika, son of Venkatesh Puranika has cut trees valued at several lacs of rupees and done rubber plantations in the area.  He has also connected water pipe line besides fencing the encroached portion of the land.

On obtaining information of the illegal encroachment of the land, Vandse Revenue inspector Ashok Kumar, Village accountant Kantaraju, Ravi Shanker, Prakash Naik, Shivu and assistants have inspected the encroached land and submitted a report to the tahsildar.  The exact area of the encroached land will be known only after the Surveyor conducts survey on Wednesday, October 9

    Revenue officials should be taken to task.
    Investigation should be initiated, why the the officials were not aware of the encroachment of Govt. land until some villagers informed them.
    To complete that much work in and around the plot it may have taken months of work and none of the revenue people were aware of that?
    They should be subjected to serious questioning to find out the amount of bribe they received and recover the damage caused by cutting down trees etc., from both parties.

    This is done with full knowledge of Revenue officials and forest dept.we all know how corrupt these two dept.
