New Delhi, Oct 9 (IANS): An Uttar Pradesh legislator's wife was strangulated and stabbed to death at her home in Delhi Wednesday, police said.
Rehana, 40, wife of Haji Aleem, a legislator from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, was killed at her New Jafrabad home in east Delhi, while her husband was away for Haj pilgrimage, police said.
The police suspects the killing took place late at night or early morning.
Two tea cups were found in a room, indicating the entry into the house was friendly.
"A few things in the house are displaced...," Sanjay Beniwal, joint commissioner of police, told IANS.
According to a neighbour, Rehana's domestic help came around 9:30 a.m. and spotted her body lying in a pool of blood in the drawing room. She informed neighbours and police.
Rehana was the second wife of Aleem and was living alone in the house.
