Baghdad, Oct 5 (IANS): Unidentified gunmen shot dead two journalists linked to an Iraqi television station in Mosul city Saturday, police and the TV channel said.
The gunmen shot dead Mohammed Karim al-Badrani, a correspondent for al-Sharqiyah satellite channel, and his colleague Mohammed Ghanim, while they were interviewing local citizens in the city's Sarj-Khana district, some 400 km from Baghdad, reported Xinhua citing a police source.
Al-Sharqiyah channel confirmed the incident, saying that "the evil has assassinated the correspondent Mohammed Karim and the cameraman Mohammed Ghanim". But it did not give further detail.
Condemning the killings, the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate have demanded that the perpetrators of the crime must be brought to justice and journalists' should get protection.
More than 375 media workers have been killed in Iraq since the US-led invasion in 2003, the group stated earlier in its annual report.
