United Nations, Oct 5 (IANS): China called on the international community to enhance cooperation on migration.
Wang Min, China's deputy permanent representative to the UN, gave the statement at a high-level dialogue on the International Migration and Development at the UN headquarters in New York Friday, reported Xinhua.
The number of international migrants has risen to 232 million and had made great contributions to the sustainable social and economic development, Wang said.
These migrants sent more than $400 billion in remittance to the developing world in 2012.
Meanwhile, anti-migrant sentiments, illegal migration and human trafficking have become more distinct, urging joint measures to address the negative aspects of migration, Wang said.
"All nations should create an inclusive environment for migrants," he added.
