Ghaziabad, Oct 4 (IANS): Police are counselling a couple locked in a marital deadlock, ignited allegedly in part by the woman's refusal to have sex because of her devotion to a spiritual guru.
While the woman's family has accused her husband and in-laws of humiliating her since their wedding last month, the man, Rohit Jain, has blamed the woman for returning to her parental home.
Jain, a real estate agent, alleged that the woman refused to establish marital relation saying she had undertaken a vow and would consummate the marriage only after seeking blessings from her guru.
"Don't touch me," the daughter of a businessman reportedly told the husband on the first night of their marriage.
"I cannot establish a relationship with you unless we are blessed by our guru," she reportedly said.
The next morning, she left for her parents' home along with her brother.
Jain's family decided to go for a divorce, alleging that the bride was "deeply hypnotised" by her spiritual guru.
But the woman lodged a complaint with police Sep 30. Superintendent of Police Kiran Yadav advised Jain to take his wife home.
Yadav said while the newly married woman may be "more rigid" compared to other devotees, "such tendencies could be changed day by day".
