Dhaka, Oct 4 (IANS): At least eight idols of Hindu gods and goddesses were vandalised by unidentified miscreants in Bangladesh, a media report said Friday.
A group of people broke into the community puja pandal at a village in Bangladesh's Natore district early Friday and damaged the newly-carved idols of goddesses Durga, and Lakshmi, and gods Ganesh and Kartik, reported The Daily Star citing Aslam Hossin, a police official.
Police said the general secretary of puja committee, Narayan Chandra Karmaker, came to the temple at around 4 a.m. and discovered that the idols were badly disfigured. He then raised an alarm.
According to the report, police are conducting search operations to nab the criminals. A three-member probe committee has also been formed to investigate the matter.
Earlier, several Hindu idols were damaged Sep 29 in Bogra and Munshiganj districts.
