Election in five states in November-December

New Delhi, Oct 4 (IANS): Assembly elections will take place in Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram in November-December, and the results will be known Dec 8, it was announced Friday.

While polling will take place in Chhattisgarh Nov 11 and 19, Madhya Pradesh will see a day's balloting Nov 25. Rajasthan will vote Dec 1, and Delhi and Mizoram on Dec 4, Chief Election Commissioner V.S. Sampath told the media.

He said a total of 110 million people will be eligible to vote in the elections, which comes months before the Lok Sabha elections due in 2014.

By-elections will simultaneously take place in the assembly constituencies of Surat West in Gujarat and Yercaud in Tamil Nadu.

"All measures are in place to conduct free and fair polls," Sampath said, putting the number of polling stations at 130,000 in all five states.

The Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be the main players in Delhi, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh although the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has emerged as a third force in the national capital.

While the Congress rules Delhi, Rajasthan and Mizoram, the BJP governs Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

 

'None of the Above' introduced for assembly polls

For the first time, voters in the five states going to polls in November-December will be able to reject all candidates by pressing "None of the Above" (NOTA) option.

Chief Election Commissioner V.S. Sampath said Friday that the electronic voting machines will have a slot for NOTA.

"On the balloting unit, below the name of the last candidate, there will now be a button for NOTA so that electors who do not want to vote for any of the candidates can exercise their option by pressing the button against NOTA," he told the media.

The NOTA option has been included following a Supreme Court ruling Sep 27.

"The commission is taking steps to bring this to the knowledge of voters and all other stakeholders," Sampath said.

    For the voters of Delhi , Dec 04, 2013 will be the time to stand up and get counted

    How they opt to get counted will decide their future for the next 5 years

    What are their options ?

     Vote for Congress

    - And continue to suffer for the next 5 years , as they have been suffering for the past 15 years

    - Of course , they will have the satisfaction of having themselves elected their tormentors democratically – hence suffer in silence


     Vote for BJP

    - Lesser of the two Evils !

    - Voters may even look forward to some small improvements in their surroundings if , BJP also wins 2014 National elections with an absolute majority . Rub-off effect from a friendly Center !


     Vote for Aam Admi Party ( AAP )

    - In each constituency , get AAP candidate to distribute to all the voters , signed copies of his / her LOCAL MANIFESTO and DECLARATION filed with Returning Officer

    - In each Election Sabha , ask Arvind Kejriwal to re-commit his party’s promise to pass Jan Lok Pal Bill ( for Delhi ) within 15 days of assuming power. Get it in writing !

    - If he does , then vote for and elect , AT LEAST 40 AAP CANDIDATES on Dec 04 .



    - Remember , if AAP cannot form a government entirely on its own strength , they cannot bring about any reforms !


    - It has to be , either an Absolute Majority or a minority with nothing more than a nuisance value !

    - For the next 5 years , for Delhi-ites , this is their last chance to get a corruption-free government

    - This is your ONLY HOPE ( light at the end of the dark tunnel ! )

    - To free India from corruption , you have only ONE option !

    All criminal persons & parties should be discarded in
    the elections!
    corrupt money making persons & parties are bad but Criminal demonic elements and are worst!
    Therefore more damaging parties have to be rendered powerless first and then target corrupt persons and parties.

    AAP party should also be given
    a chance to prove wherever they have a chance to win.
    They appear to be revolutionary,
    but reality will only be known once they get the power.

    BJP era has already started & Modi is our real PM now. Manmohan Singh a reel PM. Public, politicians & even kids are talking about Modi on daily basis. BJP will win states, Country for sure. Corrupt, Fake & sick minded Congress, other secular parties should pack up soon. Most of the Congress Leaders on their toe to migrate to BJP once Lok Sabha election announced & there are plenty of Modi supporters in Congress itself.

    People,

    I believe, results of these Assembly elections give indication of the trend of Parliamentary elections of 2014...

    People should take this as an opportunity to eradicate corruption and teach a good lesson to Corrupt politicians of both major parties....

    Before BJP Government took over Karnataka , I always thought that BJP is less corrupt than CONgress but after seeing Yeddy and others I feel they are no better than Congress....

    Politicians of both parties are corrupt to the core and absolutely shameless....and allegations of billions of Dollars of Corruption money stacked in Swiss bank is very true....and purpose of these crooks being in Politics is to increase and protect their wealth not to improve living standards of Indians....

    'NOTA' is applicable to all.
    If they introduce a system
    'REJECTED' in front of each name,
    Modi would have been banned for life time also loosing his deposit.
