Mumbai, Oct 3: Goregaon Karnataka Sangha recently held Kannada poetry singing and recitation programme at Goregaon.

Several parts depicted in various poems and novels written by well known poets including Pampa, Kumaravyasa and others were discussed during the programme.

Shakuntala Prabhu, director of research and publication department presided over the function. She said though the parts played by men are glorified in novels such as Mahabharatha, the parts played by women like Draupadi and Krishna have not been given importance.

Poems were sung by three generations of singers consisting of three singers in each group.  Eight such groups participated in singing.  Vasudha Nayak, Vidya Deshpande, Bharathi Nayak, Prathiksha Nayak, Pramila Prabhu, Nikhita Amin, Geetha Nayak and Seema Kulkarni were the sound organizers.  Rama Nayak, Nagarathna Nayak, Veda Suvarna, Vasanthi Kotekar, Padma Nayak, Sulatha Nayak, Vidya Moolya, Sushmitha Acharya, Smitha Patkar, Shantha Prabhu, Meetha Shetty, Pooja Poojary, Meera Navalkar, Rekha Navalkar and Mohini Poojary were present as singers.

Among the readers of poetry, Ananda Amin attracted the audience with his melodius voice.
Founder director of Granthayana S  Sunder, welcomed the gathering.  Sujatha Shetty and Ranjani Moily introduced the guests.  Gunodaya and Bhaskar Amin gave flower bouquets to the guests.  Convenor of Granthayana Aparna Rao conducted the programme and Hemalatha Amin thanked.
